This a guest article from our #TCMA2015 Keynote Speaker Mike McGrail
Written by Mike McGrail
It’s been a while since I’ve spoken at a conference, the offers have been there, but for various reasons I’ve decided not to take the organisers up on their kind advances.
There must be something in the air, as I’m now speaking at three excellent conferences over the remainder of our summer (remember those?). When Chris Marr got in touch with me at the turn of the year about speaking at The Content Marketing Academy, I was instantly on-board. Why? Well, the opportunity immediately excited me! Let me elaborate…
I did not know Chris before he asked me to speak, but when we met, I immediately felt the full force of his enthusiasm and passion for what he does.
I got the genuine feeling that he wanted to put this conference on in order to help the attendees improve their businesses (or do their jobs better) through content marketing and not just to make a quick buck, which can be a syndrome in the conference game.
Chris is well-known for sharing a lot of advice through his blog and podcast and that generosity is clearly transferring into the conference. Fair play Chris!
It’s an eclectic lineup for sure and that’s a great thing.
You’ve got Marcus Sheridan, a man who knows how to drive sales and growth online, Richard Tubb who’s podcasts and blog help many to grow their business, Stefan Thomas, the master of business networking, Karen Strunks, a personal branding powerhouse, and close friend of mine, Gav Oattes, a truly inspiring chap. Oh and me!
That’s a cracking lineup that will bring insight from so many different angles. It’s that wee bit different, which can only be a good thing.
I’m an Edinburgh boy and proud!
The vast majority of speaking I do is either across the rest of the UK or overseas, which is wonderful, but chances to speak at excellent conferences in Auld Reekie are few and far between. The venue is also a five minute walk from my house, which helps!
You only have to look at Chris’s private Facebook group to see that the crowd at TCMA is going to be active, excited and intrigued.
Through participating in the group I’ve had chats with many of the members and I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone. The Milky Bars are on me!
There you have it! I’m really excited about my slot on September 4th. I’ll be picking apart social media and bringing home the fact that businesses must change their approach now, or truly struggle for impact. If you’ve not got a ticket, get one quick!
