The Content Code – Mark Schaefer
In this episode Chris makes reference to pages 124 – 125 in The Content Code.
I truly believe that Mark Schaefer is one of the smartest marketers that I have had the pleasure of spending time with.
I was a little late to Mark’s content and really only discovered Mark when Social Media Explained was published (highly recommended reading for any business owner).
The content that Mark discusses and shares in The Content Code feels refreshing, exciting and is unlike other content marketing books I’ve read over the past few years (and I’ve read a lot!)
It has firmed up a lot of small ideas I’ve had recently and it’s bringing them all to the fore.
I’m now even more focussed on understanding my Alpha Audience better and investing in the longer term of building a loyal community around my content.
Content marketing is evolving and my gut feeling is that The Content Code is going to play a big part of the future for content marketing.
Business Model Generation
Chris is working with two resourceful books at the moment, which are very much worth while checking out if you are thinking about developing or starting a business.

Facebook Groups for Business
We’ve talked a lot about Facebook groups and communities on the show. Social Media Examiner just published this article, which outlines three ways that you can use Facebook groups for business. Facebook groups can allow you to:
- Network with dedicated fans
- Support current customers
- Nurture your customer segments

Content Marketing Academy – Facebook Community
A drop-in classroom for forward thinking business people and marketers who enjoy discussing and sharing ideas on everything to do with content marketing.
This is a community built around content marketing and a safe place where you can share your ideas and get support from people you can trust.
“The TCMA Facebook group has become invaluable, not just to me, but I know also to the others that I have since invited to join. Friends and also team members here at Allthings always have something to feedback on the happenings within the group. It might be the amazingness of Chris’ beard that week, but thankfully it is usually on some of the valuable content that is being posted by others. It’s a group full of people that are passionate about marketing, what’s not to love about that… Content marketing for sure, but you can also be sure to ask a question honestly about anything marketing related, and usually within minutes have some great feedback from others and their experiences.
It’s a tight knit group of people who started having interacted at Chris Marr’s workshops on Content Marketing, but recently in the last few months, this has expanded into a moderated group where people can invite others that they believe will be interested and add value. By the time TCMA rolls round in September in Edinburgh, I’m really looking forward to meeting a lot of the group in person!” – David Hay, Co-Founder, Allthings
