💡Let your vision be your guide

We tend to get caught up in the day-to-day of things. Busy meeting trying to hit those deadlines that we set for ourselves, deliver the client work on time, thinking about how we’re going to make the next wad of cash for the business.

It can be easy to get lost amongst fighting for survival.

You’re working on something bigger here.

What’s the long-term vision for your business?

Do you have this written down somewhere?

Is it inspiring? Powerful? Compelling?

Does your vision embody your values?

Does it encompass everything you do?

Do you share it with your team? Do they have access to it?

Your vision is the guide that will help you make the right decisions, hire the right people, build your internal culture, attract the right customers. It’s your vision that pulls all the pieces together and flows throughout your business every day, in everything you execute.

Have it written down somewhere where you can access it everyday. Use it as a reminder before you start your work. Look at it at the end of the day to close off the day and finish on a high.

If you don’t have one, now is the time to start pulling it together.

Let your vision be your guide.

Marketing Leadership Series: An Update…

Back in February we recorded a series of videos that we’re now calling the Marketing Leadership Series.

It’s specifically for in-house marketers and organisational leaders.

We’ve now closed off the first part of this journey after publishing 8 videos over the past few months. Just in case you missed some of them, you can watch them on LinkedIn by following the links below:

These videos have racked up tens of thousands of views on LinkedIn. You can also watch them all on this YouTube playlist.

I’ve also started adding this content to the podcast in parts. Part 1, which is 4 episodes, is now available on the podcast. So, if you prefer to listen, you can find the podcast on the CMA website, iTunes, Spotify, Buzzsprout and Stitcher.

Thank you for all your support in developing these ideas, commenting and sharing the videos and helping me to get more eye balls on these videos.

🙏 Life is equal to the choices we make

Our life is an ongoing series of choices and decisions.

We can’t control everything, but of what we can control, our life is equal to the choices we make.

We make bad choices, and we make good choices…and most of the time I don’t think we truly know the difference between them both.

We just kinda get on with it.

If you think back across your life so far, has anyone ever taught you, trained you or given you framework for making great decisions?

I mean, if our life is equal to the decisions we make we better make damn sure we know how to make decisions, right?

I don’t have an answer for you…yet, but I do know that we need:

🔴Self-Awareness: to understand how you act and behave in the world
🔴Philosophy: to understand your own character and how you see the world
🔴Values: to understand what’s important to you and how you turn up in the world
🔴Purpose: to understand the value you bring to the world and why it matters

If we can work on getting clarity on these four ‘filters’, they will help us to make better decisions, but it’s still not a solid framework (yet).

We have a few questions for you:

👉Looking back, can you identify the good or bad decisions you’ve made? What would you differently?
👉What ‘filters’ or frameworks do you use to help you make better decisions?
👉What have you learned about making better decisions?
