Why are we so scared to be ourselves?
Why do we hold back and put on an act half the time?
Look, if we are going to create businesses, and of course, lives, that we want then we had better make sure we are doing exactly what we want or else, well, what a way to spend our time!
And part of building our businesses doing exactly what we want is getting to BE exactly who we are! That’s in everything we do and everything we say.
Yet, I see it every single day. People holding back. They aren’t giving us ALL of them! So what we get is a watered down, muted version, which is quite nice but tends to blend in with everyone else who is watering themselves down and muting what they really think and who they really are. It all begins to look and sound the same.
Anyone can do that! Be the one that gets to wake up every day and be themselves.
I help entrepreneurs go full out in creating a business & life on their terms, and help them build their ‘personal brand’ and it sure as hell doesn’t come from a nice little checklist to follow every day.
Who are you?
What do you stand for?
What do you love?
What do you hate?
What’s your opinion?
What do you think about?
What’s your story?
What fills you with passion?
What have you learnt?
What’s been painful?
What’s been amazing?
Show us. Tell us. Make us FEEL SOMETHING.
Stop giving us platitudes. (And flowers and freaking unicorns if you are in the world of female entrepreneurship!) Urgh!
What’s the worse that would happen if you said what you wanted and did what you wanted?
Being YOU should be the most natural and easiest thing to do in the world, and it should also come with nothing to fear!
I am happy to guarantee right now that your worst fears won’t happen!
So, what is it?
People won’t like you? If people don’t like the REAL you, that’s OK! They aren’t the right people for you in the first place.
People might *gasp* say something mean about you? Let ’em! See above.
What is it? What’s your worse fear?
You’ll die? No, you won’t. (Okay, one day you will, but not because you went full out in being yourself during your lifetime).
If you act form a place of fear and offer a muted version of yourself, then you will attract the wrong people into your life and your business and the effect of that is you fill your business with the wrong people and clients and we know that that isn’t a pretty place to be.
Liberate yourself. Cuts the chains of formality, and so-called professionalism, and throw away that bloody rule book and those step-by-step guides!
It really is easy.
Just show up. Be you. Have fun. Help people. Sell something. Build ‘brand you’.
