Note: These are the exact tactics I used to get my first 100 story views on Snapchat. So, if you are curious how to get more snapchat followers and story views, these are the the activities you need to get involved in.
I’m 34, I run a marketing business, and I love Snapchat. What’s wrong with that statement?
Well…2-3 years ago you’d probably be worried and concerned about what I was actually doing on the platform.
But things have changed a lot, particularly in the past few months.
Snapchat is now attracting an older crowd – it’s maturing – and in and around my network it is by far the most popular chat. The age groups I’m watching on Snapchat are between 25 and 65!
Gary Vaynerchuk is perhaps the reason that myself and a lot of my business friends are on there. He can’t stop talking about it right now, and rightly so.
Gary has just published a full-on article about the history and the basics of Snapchat. I’m not going to repeat anything he has already said.
OK, just one thing from his article: 7 BILLION VIDEO VIEWS PER DAY! Snapchat is too big to be ignored!
If you are not convinced by Snapchat I HIGHLY recommend that you take the time to read Gary’s article first – it covers in detail everything that you need to know. Click here to open the article in a new tab, and then come back here once you’ve signed up 🙂
12 ways to get more Snapchat followers
This article is ideal if you’ve already signed up to Snapchat, you’ve started using the platform, and you’re now wondering how to get more followers and more views for your stories.
By now you will have already noticed that Snapchat doesn’t have a feature where you can discover or search for users (which is unlike most other platforms). So it’s back to old fashioned hustling.
To get more followers you are going to have to get out of Snapchat and on to your other channels to do a bit of old skool promotion.
Here are 12 ideas to get you moving.
1. Social media
Use your other established platforms to tell people you are now on Snapchat.
Get your Snapcode or url out onto Instagram, Twitter and Facebook
Don’t forget to use hashtags such as:
#storytelling #snapchat #socialmedia #socialmediatips #contentmarketing #personalbranding #branding #visualstorytelling #socialmediahunkie #onlinemarketing #marketing #digitalmarketing
I created a social media friendly Snapcode for Instagram, Facebook and Twitter using Canva – it took me all of 10 mins and you could do the same.

Take advantage of profile description areas on the likes of Instagram and Twitter to detail your Snapchat username.
When you search for ‘Snapchat’ on Instagram or Twitter it will pick up profile description areas.
Here’s an example from my Instagram:
Place your Snapchat username in your profile description areas
3. Your username
Where possible, make sure your username is congruent with your other social channels so that it makes it easy for people to find you.
For example, you can find me on most platforms as @chrismarr101.
